Here at Apotheca, we make natural, organic skincare using beautifully nourishing ingredients that are sustainably sourced. We like to keep things simple, and to be transparent about what’s in our products and why, so that you know exactly what you’re putting on your skin. We believe that beauty comes from within, irrespective of age, colour, size or shape, and we don’t play on the beauty myth or body insecurities to promote our products. We aim to do our bit for the planet by keeping our packaging to a minimum, using recycled or recyclable packaging where possible, and recycling as much of our waste as we can. Our products are made in small batches in the UK.
Natural
All of our products are 100% natural. We use a variety of ingredients in our formulations including plant seed oils, beeswax, essential oils and/or floral waters. These ingredients are packed full of skin-friendly nutrients, vitamins and omega oils which are thought to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties and which help to tone, cleanse, condition, nourish and rejuvenate the skin.
We don’t use controversial synthetic ingredients like parabens, phthalates, silicones, mineral oils, synthetic fragrance or ETDAs. We don’t use unnecessary fillers or cram our products full of undecipherable ingredients with strange names. We list all of our ingredients in plain English, so that you know what you’re putting on your skin.
Organic
Between 96% and 100% of the ingredients in each of our products are organic. Those products which are not 100% organic either contain vitamin e oil (which not only helps to keep the oils in our products fresher for longer, but also works as a natural antioxidant and a moisturiser on the skin); or radish root ferment (a natural preservative used in our floral waters which helps to ward off bacteria and keep the product fresher for longer, and which is also thought to have some beneficial properties for the skin).
Because our ingredients are organic, they are grown and produced with limited use of pesticides, which is not only good news for your skin, but also great news for the bees.
Sustainable
Our ingredients are all from renewable (mostly plant-based) sources, and are organically grown and produced in accordance with stringent environmentally-friendly farming practices.
We use recyclable glass containers to package the majority of our products, the only exception to this being our lip balm, which comes in a recyclable plastic tube. We don’t package our products in boxes, to keep packaging to a minimum. We use recyclable cardboard boxes and filler for shipping our products to customers. We strive to keep our waste to a minimum and recycle as much as possible.
All our products have been safety and stability tested by a certified chemist. We make sure that our products are manufactured to the Good Manufacturing Process here in the UK.
We don’t test any of our products on animals.
